Life Boat Series

I created my Life Boats series as a way to reconnect with the memories and emotions I carry about boats—vessels that have always held a deep pull on my life. At times I’ve had them in my life, at times I’ve longed for them—from yachts to kayaks and everything in between. Each piece in this series captures a story, a fleeting moment in time.

My painting style is large, loose, and abstract. I layer collage, linework, and bold, earthy colors with the constant presence of blue. Blue is irresistible to me—I want to dive into it, to feel the spray of water on my skin. Ochres and other grounded tones anchor the work, while layered textures create depth and the unexpected. Each discovery on the canvas feels like joy revealed. The process is a dance, back and forth, until the piece finally feels whole.

I am compelled to tell my story with my hands. Every painting is an expression of emotion, memory, and idea—yet always leaves room for the viewer to enter, wander, and discover their own meaning.
